This data-driven approach has proven to measurably improve early language development of participating children and enhance the professional development of our participating providers.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lena.org\/lena-grow\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; font-family: 'Century Gothic',sans-serif; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-bidi; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.queenschildcare.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Picture1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"265\" height=\"229\"><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Century Gothic', sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">To date, <\/span><b style=\"font-family: 'Century Gothic', sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">40 QCCN-affiliated childcare providers<\/b><span style=\"font-family: 'Century Gothic', sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"> and <\/span><b style=\"font-family: 'Century Gothic', sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">over<\/b> <b style=\"font-family: 'Century Gothic', sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">600 children<\/b><span style=\"font-family: 'Century Gothic', sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\"> have successfully participated in our LENA Grow initiative.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"direction: ltr;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; font-family: 'Century Gothic',sans-serif; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-bidi; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;\">LENA technology collects objective data on children\u2019s communication. Specifically, it counts the number of <b>\u201cconversational turns\u201d<\/b> between a child and caregiver. Conversational turns are simple back-and-forth alternations between a child and an adult. LENA technology counts each turn that occurs when an adult speaks and a child follows, or vice versa, with no more than five seconds in between. This data allows for <b>customized coaching<\/b> tailored to the needs of each child and provider.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify; line-height: 120%;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 120%; font-family: 'Century Gothic',sans-serif;\">Each&nbsp;<b>5-week cohort<\/b> includes:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><!-- [if !supportLists]--><b><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Century Gothic',sans-serif; color: #7030a0;\">LENA <span style=\"text-transform: uppercase;\">Day:<\/span><\/span><\/b> <span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Century Gothic',sans-serif;\">During a LENA Day, children will wear a <b>light-weight vest<\/b> with an unobtrusive LENA <b>recording device<\/b> that safely and securely captures their language input and output.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Century Gothic',sans-serif; color: #7030a0; text-transform: uppercase;\">feedback<\/span><\/b><b><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Century Gothic',sans-serif; color: #7030a0;\">:<\/span><\/b> <span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Century Gothic',sans-serif;\">The data will be translated into <b>easy-to-read feedback reports<\/b>. With guidance from LENA and QCCN\u2019s Education Specialists, teachers reflect on the reports to reach their own insights and form their own goals for the following week. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><b><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Century Gothic',sans-serif; color: #7030a0; text-transform: uppercase;\">Practice:<\/span><\/b> <span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Century Gothic',sans-serif;\">The days between <b>coaching sessions<\/b> and on the next <b>LENA Day,<\/b> caregivers practice what they\u2019ve learned and work toward achieving their goal<b> <\/b>so that they will show <b>measurable improvements.<\/b><\/span><\/li>\n<li><b><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Century Gothic',sans-serif; color: #7030a0;\">COACHING:<\/span><\/b> <span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 150%; font-family: 'Century Gothic',sans-serif;\">Caregivers will have weekly <b>30-minute one-on-one coaching sessions<\/b> focused on reflection, review of reports, discussion around strategies for increasing interaction and goal setting.
